As a winter month, February can be pretty chilly and you will want to look for things to do inside. Oklahoma City and Tulsa have a lot of indoor attractions that are always great spots to find whether you are traveling through, staying for the weekend or living there. The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum will take you back in time with their award winning western artists. The museum was formerly known as the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. There are several works of arts including Prosperity Junction, a 14,000 square foot Western town. Artists featured include Charles Russell, Frederic Remington, Albert Bierstadt and more. There are adult tours and children's tours available. The museum also has a restaurant on site.

The Omniplex is a child's dream. Here you will find numerous exhibits and hands-on exhibits and games. Exhibits include aviation and space artifacts, cultural galleries, planetarium, OmniDome Theater, hands-on science exhibits and much more. The OmniDome is the only domed-shape theater in Oklahoma. The theater is 70 feet in diameter with stereo sound. The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum features a 360-degree photograph of the Grand Canyon. The museum also features four large galleries with historical and contemporary traveling exhibitions. Other permanent collections include Ansel Admas, Dorothea Lange, Edward Steichen and more. See the only Oklahoma shaped swimming pool in the world! The Oklahoma Governor's Mansion opens in February for guided tours. The house is an architectural delight and features many interesting objects such as the Maximilian Bed, a replica of the punch bowl from the U.S.S. Oklahoma, and, of course, the swimming pool. There are many historical antiques, works of art and beautiful gardens as well.

The National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum features the colorful history of softball and its players. There are various exhibits featuring the sport including fast, slow and modified pitch styles. Umpires, youth and championship teams are also featured. The museum is housed at the headquarters of the Amateur Softball Association/USA Softball. The ASA Hall of Fame Stadium is considered the country's number one softball stadium and hosts the NCAA College World Series in which teams from all over the world come to compete. Oklahoma City features a wide variety of events to do inside so you can learn about the state but stay out of the cold February weather.
